Our industrial drum brakes are designed for applications where a safety device is needed to prevent the uncontrolled operation of various kinds of industrial machinery such as cranes, hoists, and winches.
We use several different types of fail-safe drum brakes in our industrial braking systems, working with the customer to select the ideal brake for the specific requirements of their application. For example, we support customers with applications ranging from crane brake upgrades (often, but not exclusively, seen in the steel mill industry) to fan brakes in the cooling tower industry.
Our spring applied drum brakes are released (or held open) using either an electrohydraulic thruster, electromagnetics, or pneumatics.
Fail-safe drum brakes are ideal for use as service brakes, holding brakes, e-stop brakes, and other braking applications that don’t generate extreme heat.
Drum brakes provide several distinct advantages compared to industrial disc brakes including being generally cheaper, not applying an overhung load to the shaft, and requiring less space due to their compact configuration.
We also provide all the necessary components and accessories for our industrial drum braking systems including brake drums/wheels in standard inch and metric sizes, various types of couplings including pin couplings with brake drums, and enclosures/covers.
